Network Check / Public IP

VPNSit IP Address Checker

Check the public IP for your current request and see whether its reported location changes after switching routes.

Results reflect the connection used by your browser to access our API. They don’t show whether every app on your device uses the same route.

IP location and proxy detection data may be out of date. Missing fields won’t be inferred or presented as definitive results.

What these results mean

Your public IP isn’t your device’s local address

The public IP is the address our API identifies when it receives this request. It may belong to your local internet provider or to the international route you’re using. It isn’t the local network address assigned to your device by your router, and it can’t pinpoint your home address.

To compare results before and after switching routes, note your current IP, switch routes, then select “Check again.” If the public IP or reported location changes, the request to our API is taking a different path. If nothing changes, check that your client is connected and that your routing rules aren’t sending our site directly. An unchanged address alone doesn’t prove the connection has failed.

Country, region, and ISP are based on IP databases

The country and region reflect how an IP database classifies that address. ISP usually refers to the network provider or hosting network associated with it, and may not be the name of a residential broadband provider. IP assignments, database update schedules, and provider naming conventions can all affect the results.

Proxy detection isn’t a security verdict

“Proxy detected” means the API has marked the address as a proxy exit. “No proxy detected” only means this check didn’t return that flag; it doesn’t confirm a direct connection, anonymity, or encryption strength. If the field isn’t returned, it will show “Temporarily unavailable,” not “No proxy detected.”

Different apps, websites, and routing rules may use different routes. Our results can’t replace a destination website’s own location checks or confirm whether streaming services or AI tools will work.

Check for DNS leaks

DNS translates domain names into network addresses. Even when web traffic uses your selected route, DNS requests may take a different path. A matching public IP alone doesn’t confirm that DNS lookups are using the settings you expect.

This page checks public IP information only. It doesn’t run a DNS leak test or identify the DNS resolvers in use. Proxy detection results here are not DNS test results.

  1. Start with your client settings. Check whether your current configuration handles DNS, and review your routing mode, system proxy, and DNS options. With system proxy enabled alone, some apps’ DNS requests may not follow the same rules.
  2. Check your system and browser DNS settings. Look for manually configured DNS, Secure DNS, and workplace network policies. A browser’s own settings may override the system configuration; on managed devices, follow your organization’s network requirements.
  3. Check which provider operates the DNS resolvers. If you use a dedicated DNS testing tool, read its privacy policy first, then compare the detected provider with your current settings. A DNS provider’s location differing from your public IP doesn’t necessarily mean there’s a leak; consider the resolution path as well.
  4. Verify again after making changes. Apply the settings according to your client’s instructions, reconnect, then check your public IP and DNS results separately. Don’t rely only on whether a webpage loads, and don’t disable your device’s security settings just to troubleshoot.

Privacy and lookup limits

We don’t log lookups. This page requests current public IP information only through our API; it doesn’t fall back to a third-party public API or save results in your browser’s local storage.

When you select “Copy IP,” only the public address currently shown is copied to your clipboard. Before sharing a screenshot or troubleshooting details, check that they don’t include network information you’d rather keep private.

If the API is unavailable, the page will show “Temporarily unavailable.” Check your connection and try again, or report the issue through a support ticket in the user dashboard. Don’t include your password or full subscription link in a ticket.
